Authors instructions

Revista Peruana de Cardiología  is the official dissemination organ of the Peruvian Society of Cardiology (SOPECARD). The journal considers scientific works in Spanish and English for publication; it publishes peer-reviewed articles on basic, epidemiological, surgical, and clinical aspects of the field of cardiology, at no cost to authors and readers. 

1. Types of articles and technical requirements

To ensure editorial quality, we have simplified the requirements according to the format of your manuscript: 
 

2. Quality and ethics standards

We suggest that authors adhere to the international guidelines of the EQUATOR initiative to increase the transparency of their research; the guide used must be described in the manuscript: 

• Clinical trials: CONSORT Guidelines and mandatory registration in international databases (e.g., www.clinicaltrials.gov). 

• Observational studies: STROBE Guidelines. 

• Systematic reviews: PRISMA Guidelines (and PRISMA-P for protocols). 

• Trial protocols: SPIRIT Guidelines. 

• Ethics: It is mandatory to attach the approval of the institutional Bioethics Committee and informed consent when applicable. 

3. Manuscript preparation

• Format: Word file, Times New Roman or Arial 12 font, double-spaced with 2.5 cm margins. 

• Language: Works are accepted in Spanish and English. 

• Artificial intelligence: The use of generative AI in the writing or creation of content (images) must be explicitly declared. 

• References: National Library of Medicine format (Vancouver, including the first 6 authors, et al.). They must be numbered consecutively in the text using superscripts.

• Tables and figures: Tables go at the end of the Word document. Figures must not be pasted into the Word document (only the text description of the image will be written in the manuscript text); send each image as independent files (JPG, TIFF, PDF) with resolution ≥ 350 ppi. 

4. Submission method

Our editorial platform is highly user-friendly and intuitive. You only need to follow the system instructions and have your material ready to upload. Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's electronic editorial system at: https://publisher.revistaperuanadecardiologia.permanyer.com/login.php. 

• Registration: The corresponding author must create an account in our Electronic Editorial System. 

• Simple upload: Once inside, the system will guide you step by step to upload your files. 

• Tracking: Always use the same reference to send modifications and avoid duplicates. You will receive an electronic acknowledgment of receipt immediately. 

5. Mandatory documents to upload

For a successful submission, make sure you have these 4 files ready: 

• File 1 (title page): Title (Spanish/English), full author data and affiliations (without academic degrees), ORCID, professional acknowledgments, funding, and conflicts of interest. 

• File 2 (blinded manuscript): Word document without author identification. It must include titles, abstracts, body of the text, references, tables, and figure captions. 

• File 3 (figures): An independent file for each image. 

• File 4 (responsibility letter): Document signed by all authors declaring originality, absence of conflicts of interest, and transfer of rights to the journal.

6. Editorial Process Times

• Initial Review (5 days): Verification of relevance, originality, and plagiarism detection. 

• Peer Review (30 days): Technical evaluation by at least two experts. 

• Decision (7 days): Decision of acceptance or need for changes. 

• Publication: After final editing (6 weeks), the article is published as Ahead of Print on our website. 
 

PRINT PROOFS (PDF) OF ACCEPTED ARTICLES 

The corresponding author will receive proofs of the article for revision and correction of terminology errors, or any other updates related to facts/figures. As the article will already have been edited according to the journal’s internal editorial guidelines, style corrections will not be accepted. The corresponding author will receive an email with the article in PDF format, on which they can leave their comments. Authors will need to have Adobe Reader (version 9, or a later version), downloadable for free. For other system requirements, please visit the Adobe website.

Alternatively, authors may make a list of corrections and send them by email. Any major changes at this stage will be subject to the Editor's approval. Be sure to include all changes in a single email, as we cannot guarantee the inclusion of subsequent corrections. Proofreading is the responsibility of the author.
